Our Approach
At A New Kind of Man we believe that every man has the potential to become a good man, and every man has taken a unique path to get him to where he is. Our approach is direct and to the point. We will boil it down to get nothing but quality out to you men. A New Kind of Man takes into account that we are not punching out widgets; we are helping to form and shape “iron” and we are all a bit different. However, we can all become good men by taking some action in areas that will make all us more complete men.
We seek to help reach mastery in the areas of spiritual development, financial responsibility, personal leadership, and other manly traits.
“Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17
Why are we here?
The high call of A New Kind of Man came from simply observing the condition of men today. This burden runs very deep. Men today are uninitiated and need direction so we stand in the gap for men everywhere. We don’t claim to be experts. We are practitioners who believe that we all get better when we commit and learn from one another.
Manly men do masculine things together.
Stephen Mansfield
I will square up to you men. We exist to help men to be the best version of yourselves. We hope to accomplish this by developing in four common growth areas: spiritual maturity, intellectual growth, physical strength, and relational integrity. When we engage in these areas your whole world improves.
These growth areas were inspired by a passage of scripture describing the perfect archetype of a man, Jesus Christ. He grew in wisdom (intellectual growth), stature (physical strength), favor with God (spiritual maturity), and in favor with man (relational integrity). (Luke 2:52)
So if you would like to grow as a man, as a husband, as a dad, as a friend, as a boss, as an employee, then you are in the right place. Lace your boots because there is manly work to be done.
Meet the Founder
Chad and Marla have been married for 27 years, and they have two kids, Austin, 24, and Gracie, 17.
Chad grew up in rural Illinois before going into the Navy at 18. He spent four years in active duty and was forward deployed for much of that time. He worked on F/A-18 aircraft onboard two different aircraft carriers. His time in service gave him the opportunity to explore different parts of the world.
He and his wife went to Southern Illinois University where they finished bachelors degrees and headed off into the workforce. Chad worked in the aviation industry for years until he went through a complete change of course. For the last 14 years he has been in full time vocational ministry. Since then, Chad has finished a masters degree and continues to learn by being an avid reader, practitioner and carnivore of useful wisdom. Chad loves the outdoors, sports and good coffee. They currently reside in Dublin, Georgia.
Chad founded A New Kind of Man in 2018. His long journey into manhood and his study of masculinity began after the birth of his son decades ago. His own limitations led him to exploring the bible and other men from history to find better examples of what it means to be a man.
His journey into manhood is still unfolding and he refers to it from time to time through his writing and podcasts, so plug in to hear it.
